About the procedure
In PRP, platelet-rich plasma separated from the patient's own blood is injected into the scalp, increasing stem cell activity and blood flow. In mesotherapy, a vitamin and mineral blend is delivered the same way.
It is used on its own in the early stages of hair loss and as a course of treatment after a hair transplant to support graft survival.
Before treatment, the cause of hair loss is investigated; if correctable causes such as iron, vitamin D, or thyroid problems are present, injection therapy is added alongside their treatment, not in place of it. For PRP, the blood drawn is separated in a centrifuge and the plasma is delivered in small doses through fine needles into the thinning areas of the scalp. In patients who have had a hair transplant, the first session is usually planned a few weeks after the transplant, once the scabs have come off.
- ✓Non-surgical
- ✓Combined with hair transplant
- ✓Immediate return to social life
Suitability
Who is it suitable for?
May be suitable
- ✓Patients in the early stage of male- or female-pattern hair loss, where the follicles have not yet been lost and the hair is in the thinning phase.
- ✓Those who want to strengthen existing hair before a hair transplant or support the healing period afterward.
- ✓Patients who cannot tolerate medication or prefer not to take it and are looking for a nonsurgical option.
- ✓Those experiencing temporary diffuse shedding (telogen effluvium) due to stress, childbirth, or seasonal causes who want to speed up recovery.
Should be postponed or is not suitable
- —PRP is not performed in patients undergoing cancer treatment or those with an active infection, blood disease, or low platelet count.
- —In those taking blood thinners and during pregnancy or breastfeeding, treatment is postponed based on the physician's assessment.
- —In areas where the follicles have been completely lost and the scalp has looked shiny and bald for a long time, injection therapy does not grow new hair; a transplant is considered for these areas.
- —Injections are not given into areas of the scalp with active lesions such as psoriasis or eczema.
The final decision on suitability is made after a physician examination and tests.
Process
How does it proceed, step by step?
- 01
Assessment
The type and duration of hair loss are determined; if needed, iron, vitamin, and hormone levels are checked with blood tests.
- 02
Blood draw and preparation
For PRP, a small amount of blood is drawn from the arm and platelet-rich plasma is separated in a centrifuge; the mesotherapy mixture is applied ready-made.
- 03
Injection
The scalp is cleansed and, if needed, cooling or numbing cream is applied; small doses are delivered into the thinning areas with fine needles.
- 04
After the session
You return to daily life the same day; mild tenderness at the injection points may last a few hours.
- 05
Course and follow-up
Sessions are planned at intervals; at the end of the first course, the response is evaluated by photo comparison and maintenance sessions are scheduled accordingly.
Recovery
Recovery timeline
Day 1
Mild tenderness, redness, and pinpoint bleeding on the scalp are possible; the hair is not washed on the first day.
Days 2–3
The tenderness passes and the hair can be washed normally; hot water and vigorous massage are postponed for a few days.
Week 1
The injection marks disappear; wait at least one week before hair dye or chemical treatments.
Months 1–3
The course continues; a reduction in shedding begins to be noticed by most patients during this period.
Months 3–6
Thickening of the hair shaft and the growth of new fine hairs can be evaluated; results vary from person to person.
Timeframes are averages; they vary by person and by the scope of the procedure.

Risks and points to consider
Every medical procedure carries risks. The points below are the main known issues for this procedure; a risk assessment specific to you is made during the consultation.
- Temporary pain, redness, and small bruises at the injection points are common and resolve within a few days.
- Because PRP is prepared from your own blood, the risk of allergy is low; a reaction to the substances in the mesotherapy mixture is rare but possible.
- Infection of the scalp can develop if sterilization is not maintained; the procedure is performed under sterile conditions.
- Response varies from person to person; some patients may not see a noticeable difference, and this is assessed honestly at the end of the course.
- The treatment aims to slow hair loss; when it is stopped, shedding may resume where it left off.
